Sadly, Joe passed away on April 9, 2025, at the age of 86.
Joe was born and raised in Lagrange, Georgia. He graduated from the University of Georgia with a BA in Forestry. Joe worked as a land appraiser with the US Forest Service for 37 years. After retiring from both the US Forest Service and the US Army Reserves, Joe began work as a commercial appraiser. He helped mentor his two youngest sons, who have followed in his footsteps as General Appraisers. Joe was a USPAP (Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice) Instructor for several years. As one of the founders of CDN Appraisal, Joe was semi-retired and continued to work on Appraisal Reviews, Consulting, and as an Advisor until he passed away. Joe is survived by his wife of 63 years, Laverne, three sons, three daughters-in-law (he called his daughters), five grandchildren, a brother, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Joe is greatly missed but his legacy lives on.

The youngest of three boys, Mike grew up in the Haw Creek community of Asheville, NC. He graduated from Western Carolina University with a BA in Criminal Justice. Mike was successful in sales for ten years before he began his appraisal career in 2003; his father, Joe, was his mentor. Mike is licensed as a General Appraiser, specializing in Commercial Appraisals such as Farms, Large Acreage Tracts, Conservation Easements, Preservation Easements, Federal Land Acquisitions (Yellow Book), and IRS Reports for Tax Deductions. Mike enjoys his work, which provides opportunities to view some of the most beautiful properties in Western North Carolina. He resides in the Haw Creek community in Asheville, NC. Mike and his wife, Sara, CDN's Office Manager, enjoy the outdoors together, and spending time with their rescue dogs, Huck and Finn.

Sara was born in Asheville, NC and grew up on a farm in nearby Fairview where she was the second of four sisters. She spent much of her early adult life working in the insurance business, and later in the medical field. She married Mike, a general appraiser, in 2009. She spent much of her early adult life working in the insurance business, and later in the medical field. She married Mike, a general appraiser, in 2009. While continuing her work in the medical field, she worked for CDN Appraisal on a part-time basis until CDN needed her full-time in 2021.
Sara enjoys the appraisal business, as there is always a new challenge or something new to learn. In addition to her duties as Office Manager, she assists with appraisal reports and reviews, inspections and research.
